Intercontinental Single Speed Cyclocross Championships of the Universe
Amazing obstacles, and it all begins with a 500m Le Mans start through a feild filled with cow patties.

This costume makes it look like his toilet parts are trying to choke hime.

The sprint on the low tire pressure around the 6-minute mark of the last video is awesome. Those are some of the radest courses I've seen. The whoop section on that one was killer.
Pretty good article regarding the SSCXWC (SingleSpeed Cyclocross World Championships). That looked freakin' insane.

If that race is in January, we'll have to remember renew the race licenses.
Great info. Thanks!
Yep, our licenses expire in December. There are 3 cross races in January down here that I am registered. I need to renew my license for that.
We are mostly from FTL, but I am up for riding some cross in Dade City. The more the better, cause I suck.
Anyone still up for some CX training rides? I'm in Coral Springs, so Markham and Quiet Waters are both just down the Sawgrass from me. I just moved back and am looking for people to ride with. Pretty much any time/day works for me right now.
I have been riding cross at Quiet Waters on Saturday and Sunday afternoons after riding road in the morning (havent ridden cross at Markham yet, but Ross has quite a few times). During the week, since it gets dark so early, I have been riding to the Holiday Park jogging trails to ride the gravel and then do run up and down some stairs on the way back home.
I might be heading up to Orlando to race cross this weekend so I won't be around. Hit me up if you want to ride sometime.
The cyclocross race in Clermont was tough as hell. I was located in a basin that held a track will with the surroundig hills rising several stories.
The start of the race was a sprint uphill to the top, followed by a quick downhill, back into more uphill with sand, followed by more uphill climbing, then a barrier that led to the an extremely steep clip. Then there was some quick downhill with lots of turns, but the inside of the turns were really sandy and forced you to the oustide. this caused several people coming in hot to blow through a course marker or two.
At the mid section of the downhill was a long stretch of more sand then turned hard right into a sandy donwhill. the lower portion of the course was all grass and after a couple of laps causing the grass to become matted down, it slowly became a place where you could recover.
The final section of the course consisted of more sand, but was easliy bunny hopped with some speed after a short section of asphalt. The final obstacle was a staircase with a tight left turn back down the hill followed by a 90 degree right turn to complete the lap and sprint back uphill to do it all over again.
Overall it was really fun. The course was 1.5miles, the average lap was 8-9 mintues with the pros completing the course much faster.
Things to remenber:
1. Do install compact cranks (having road bike gearing doesn't help on a course with lots of climbing.
2. Do have someone in the pit with a water bottle incase you need to grab a quick drink.
The Clermont race looked like a lot of fun. I'll be doing the rest of the series, including the Tallahassee races which should be a ton of fun.
sweeeeet. do want to try
